Annual Student Photography Exhibit, 2008
Black Hills State University photography students are currently exhibiting photographs in the Rudell Gallery through April 17th. The 14th Annual Student Photography Exhibit consists of nearly 100 photographs from over 80 students. The work includes conventional black and white, color photographs, digitally produced photographs and a variety alternative processes including Lithe prints and Polaroid transfers. The images presented were collected from 10 photography courses ranging from basic to advanced offered during this academic year. Local nature and wildlife photographer, Less Vorhes, acted as this year’s juror awarding cash prizes for first, second and third place as well as seven honorable mentions. Prizewinners include, Mandy Detweiller, First Place; Jesse Hanson, Second Place; Randall Iverson, Third Place. Honorable Mentions went to, Breayne Bussell, Michelle Thompson, Jerake Witte, David Harding, Jenna Hillman, Jodi Oliver and Bernie Butcher. Vorhes said of the work included in this year’s exhibition exhibition, “I was especially taken with the unique and fresh perspectives the students brought to this years competition“. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to a closing reception on April 17, from 3-5pm.
