“The Woman in Blacka�� haunts historic opera house

The Mathews Opera House in Spearfish will be showing “The Woman in Black” on Oct. 31 through Nov. 3 as part of their subscription series.

The Mathews Opera House knows that Halloween is right around the corner and to get Spearfish into the mood they are showing the suspenseful ghost story “The Woman in Black.” The tale follows two men, Arthur Kipp and an actor that is playing a younger Arthur Kipp, as they perform a play. Arthur asks the actor to help him recreate an experience from when he is younger. This tale follows Arthur as he finds out the truth of what happened to the woman in blacka��a vengeful and menacing ghost figure that haunts the town he is visiting.

The play is based on the book by Susan Hill and was adapted by Stephan Mallatratt. “The Woman in Black” will be directed by Max G. Merchen and will have only two actors. Dwight Meyers will portray Arthur Kipp; and Jacob J. Roman, a graduate from Black Hills State University, will be the actor portraying young Arthur Kipp.

General admission tickets are on sale now for $15 for adults and $5 for children and BHSU students. This play is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
