What to do during the Coronavirus

SPEARFISH SD (BHSUmedia) BHSU students should be aware of the growing number of cases regarding the coronavirus. Right now South Dakota only has 14 confirmed cases with one confirmed death, but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t be taking precautions. Gov. Kristi Noem has ordered a new shipment so they can test 100 high priority cases. So far 663 people in SD have been tested. South Dakota is trying to take all the precautions it can to stop the spread of the coronavirus, but individually people can all do something.

  • The first thing students can do in this trying time, is not panic. That might sound completely impossible, sometimes its better to turn off the news, get off social media, and try to calm down.
  • Don’t buy up all the toilet paper and hand sanitizers. Stores all over the US are out of needed supplies and it makes for people to be even more panicked.
  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. It’s the best thing to do during this crisis. The virus is airborne, but it also can get into your system through direct contact.
  • Try not to touch your face. If you come into contact with someone with the coronavirus and touch your face, it can go into your system a lot easier.
  • If you believe to have symptoms of the coronavirus, coughing, chest tightness, fever, or even a runny nose, stay home and call a doctor. This cannot be stressed enough. Do not go to the doctor unless they recommend to come in, otherwise stay inside and ride the symptoms out.

BHSU needs to stick together to ride this out. Just remember that it will eventually go away. If you have anymore questions you can look at the CDC official website, or other factual sites.
